Wastewater Superintendent

Location:

Canton, CT.

 

Description:

The Canton Connecticut Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) is looking for a Superintendent to plan, organize and direct activities in the operation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of all WPCF and related infrastructure.  The WPCF is a 0.8 MGD advanced treatment facility with a full time staff of 3 operators and an administrative assistant.  The collection system consists of approximately 25 miles of sewers and 3 pump stations.

 

This is a professional position that requires an individual to work with independence and limited supervision. This position also requires a working superintendent and involves a combination of technical expertise with regard to utility operation and process equipment combined with practical mechanical ability and management skills.

 

Requirements:

Applicants must have a minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent; applicants with an Associates Degree or higher in Engineering, Science or Management preferred.   Applicants shall have at least 10 years experience in the wastewater field with 5 years of supervisory experience.  The Applicant must be certified by Connecticut DEP as a Class IV Wastewater Operator.  In addition the Applicant shall hold or be able to obtain within 1 year both NEWEA Grade IV Collection System and Grade I Laboratory Analyst Certifications.

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Manager Water Treatment

Location:

Shoreline Region located in Clinton, Connecticut.

 

Description:

Under supervision of the Director, Technical and Environmental Services, this individual will work from policies, statutes and regulations to maintain compliance with water treatment and environmental regulations in the operation and quality control of all water treatment facilities of the Company. This position will provide technical supervision and establish technical standards and procedures for water treatment operations throughout the Company.  This individual will also be responsible for the supervision of the WTP Chief Operators and for the direction of all activities and personnel involved in the operations of the Company’s surface Water Treatment Plants; in addition, this individual will supervise the company’s Reservoir Management program.  Working with the WTP Chief Operators, this individual will also provide estimates for the annual O&M Operating and Capital Improvement Budgets. In addition, this individual will administer budgets throughout the year and will prepare annual WTP costs reports for review by Senior Management.  The Manager, Water Treatment will also participate in the development of  water treatment improvements for new or existing Company facilities and will assist with the design and operational reviews to maintain compliance with regulations.  

 

Requirements:

Must possess and maintain a State of CT Class 4 Water Treatment Operator certification and a minimum of 10 years supervisory experience in operating and maintaining water treatment plants.  Water quality testing and analysis experience a plus.  The individual in this position will perform the duties of the Chief Water Treatment Plant Operator or Plant Operator either on a routine basis or as needed during emergency periods including weekends, holidays or stand-by as needed.  Educational Requirement: Minimum High School graduate; Associates or Bachelors degree preferred. Will be required to qualify for respirator use and comply with Company’s Respirator Protection program.

Wastewater Operator

Location:

Connecticut service area.

 

Description:

Connecticut Water Service is seeking an experienced Wastewater Operator with a Class III or higher Wastewater Treatment certification from Connecticut DEP or a reciprocal state. 

 

Requirements:

Prior experiences should display mechanical aptitude and knowledge with related systems and equipment such as pumps, generators and electrical gear and water quality/chemistry.

Wastewater Operator II

Location:

West Haven, CT

 

Description:

Our Operators:

 

  • Operate, repair and maintain water/wastewater treatment plant facilities

  • Establish and maintain effective sample procedures of plant operations and effluent

  • Diagnose operating problems and direct and perform necessary corrective action

  • Prepare required reports and maintain complete record-keeping procedures

  • Perform physically demanding work including lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing and working off ladders, working in confined spaces, and working outdoors in all types of weather

  • Assist in directing and training employees

  • Have knowledge of principles and practices of water/wastewater treatment plant operations, principles of supervision and training and related safe work practices  

  • Have a valid Driver’s License and CT Class III Wastewater Operator License

Additional Information: This position will be assigned to second shift, approximately 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with potential for overtime.

 

Requirements:

  • 2 years experience in the operations of water/wastewater treatment facilities

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Connecticut Class III Wastewater Operator License

  • High School Diploma/GED
