NEWEA Laboratory Practices Committee
Overall Charge
To encourage the participation of Laboratory Professionals in the New
England Water Environment Association and to address issues relating to
standard laboratory practices.
Specific Duties
2. To promote the accurate and timely dissemination of laboratory
information to the membership.
3. To provide a forum for the exchange of information regarding
standard laboratory practices in New England.
4. To develop and maintain beneficial relationships with Laboratory
Practice Committees in other professional organizations.
5. To provide a liaison to the Water Environment Federation's
Laboratory Practices Committee.
6. The Chair shall appoint a member to serve on the Operations
Challenge Committee.
7. To administer and oversee the Voluntary Laboratory Analyst
Certification Program.
The LPC meetings are usually held at the NEWEA office in Woburn,
Massachusetts. Generally, there are three face-to-face meetings and one
or two conference calls. The face-to-face meetings are held during the
NEWEA Annual Conferences in Boston, Massachusetts, during the NEWEA
Spring Meetings, and just prior to the NEWEA Committee Member
Appreciation Events. There may be more meetings depending on the tasks
the committee is working on; plus, there are two subcommittees that may
meet more frequently.
